[ to be unjaded and not lost ]
"oh oasis, this desert life is too much. and sand is a veil." i think the song goes something like that. it starts like that at least. then it drifts into the ocean, yeah! just gotta sing it. |

[ files in my eyes ]
the dentist. is surely a wonderful place. you're mouth's agape most of the time. they poke and prod and tickle your tounge. and sometimes... if you're lucky... they sing and dance and do requests. at least that's what they tell me about this new guy. i get to go tomorrow. hrm... i wonder if they'd give you laughing gas if you go in already hysterical. |

[ stealing teal ]
stealing teal is hard,
you know,
it slips through your fingers
like wet water
and runs down your wrists
until your sleeves
are buttered blue
it leaps out of your pockets
and drives away
in a '57 Chevy
before you can even
ask for it's phone number
no amount of
lifting, looting, pilfering, pillaging, pinching, pirating, plundering, poaching, purloining, or swiping
could ever remove
even
one
iota
of teal
from the shattered shutters
and silk dresses
of your heart
perhaps,
it cannot even be bought or sold
teal is something special
something sacred
teal
can only be given. |

[ jeru salaam funk ]
aie, i feel like walking until my shoes fall apart, then making some sandals out of grass and vines and walking until those fall apart. then rolling down a green grassy hill. and when i get to the bottom, i'll lay on my back with my hands behind my head and watch the clouds go spinning by. and once they stop spinning and start dancing, i'll sing at the top of my lungs until i see something awesome then i'll sing in a whisper until i see something awful then i'll hum until i hear the wind calling me home and float away shoeless. |
