[ languish here ]

"Let me tell you the story of yourself," she said. Ain't that always how it goes. "Your mother was the ocean and your father was the desert. I knew them only after they'd separated, the day after you were born. But Great-Grama always said that together they were a sight to behold. They were so completely different, yet they each had that certain quality which the other held so dearly. Great-Grama always said that there could be no lies between them. And that was why they had you... Truth."

Which is a hell of a name to live up to. I mean, of all the names going around back then, of all of the things being created: clouds, wind, trees, mischief. It just had to be truth. Although, Truth is probably better than Time. That poor guy's got it pretty bad. We're both terribly misunderstood. But when people misunderstand me, I can always slip into the cracks and around the shadows. He's just got to stand there the whole time. People curse him for the things he has absolutely no control over, and all he can do is stand there and take it. I guess I'm lucky like that. At least, my job is fairly exciting. There's always something new to do, always someone fun looking for me.

I love it when people try to find me in that very serious way that people do sometimes. I'm hiding around the next page of the book they're reading or behind some synapse and they're frowning away, or exhausted, it's all I can do to keep from cracking up and giving myself away right there. To come out laugh-screaming, to kiss them on the cheek "Mwah! You'll never find me like that!" And to run off to my next hiding spot.

I'm damn good too. Although, Paradox is even better than me (which is part of why I like her so much). We both know all the good hiding spots, but she's more social and more subtle at the same time. I can't compete with that. Plus, she's got awesome scars and these eyes like you wouldn't believe.

i think, perhaps, that this is why you like mango lassi so much-- such a wonderful blend of tropics and breeze, sour and sweet.

i try very hard to find you sometimes, and it's getting easier, but you're still quite slippery. i'm glad, because it's infinitely better than being stuck. just don't slide too fast, else you'll take a spill on the ice :D

languish, dear. take refuge, rest. your eyes say everything, give mysteriously perfect answers to mine.
